Feb 2024 – Potential Gmail Armageddon

Feb 2024 could be email armageddon.

You can read the Gmail policy here: https://blog.google/products/gmail/gmail-security-authentication-spam-protection/ and see that Microsoft are also attacking spam here: https://www.helpnetsecurity.com/2023/10/09/microsoft-365-bulk-email/

In simple terms Google and Microsoft require certain technical elements to be in place in order to deliver your bulk email sends. Their official definition of ‘Bulk” is 5000 emails or more, sent in a day.

You may not know this, but without what is known as “email authentication” setup, spammers have the opportunity to send email as YOU. That could include emailing your clients or colleagues as YOU.

So the “DMARC at enforcement” tech is a way to authenticate YOU.

Your tech departments should be all over this but just in case they are not it is worth sending them the 2 links above.

How do you know if they are or not?

Click this link, it is a free tool that will spit out an immediate report on the status of bulk emails sent from your address:

https://domain-checker.valimail.com/dmarc

We have no connection with this tool but it is an easy way to find out where you stand as the new spam filtering by Gmail and Microsoft kicks in.

Over and out or give me a shout, David@TheNewTV.com.au
